Chaplaincy
PAREF schools pay particular attention to spiritual formation, which it entrusts to the Prelature of Opus Dei. The school’s Chaplaincy has particular charge of this vital function of providing spiritual-formation, which it provides, among other things, through various means: spiritual direction, confession, Holy Mass, as well as the celebration of liturgical traditions in the school. It organizes formative activities that promote a deeper understanding of religious doctrine and growth in spiritual direction and confession. Appointments for spiritual direction can be made directly with the chaplains. Priest is also regularly available for confession from 8:30a.m. to 12:00p.m. on weekdays and Catholic Doctrine classes are held monthly. Holy Mass is celebrated daily at the Oratory at 7:35p.m. A Eucharistic Vigil of the Blessed Sacrament is held every first Friday of the month in the morning. Students, faculty, employees, and guests may also visit the chapel anytime.
During the year, the Chaplaincy organizes liturgical celebrations which have over the years taken root as important school traditions: the Novena to the Immaculate Conception (November 30- December 8), Ash Wednesday at the beginning of Lent, Mass in honor of the Virgin in May and mass for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. Also, part of the school’s tradition is to celebrate Mass during graduation. These liturgical celebrations serve as anchors upon which community life is enriched and school unity is built.
Overall, the chaplaincy organizes formative activities such as recollections, retreats, seminars, and special lectures of doctrinal content. Many of these are scheduled in advance and pertinent information made available to the entire community, in order to allow students, faculty, and staff to take advantage of these activities as much as possible.
